    Graffiti

Graffiti is generally known as a method of painting on walls using spray cans, but since the mid-2000s, a new form of expression has emerged, in which three-dimensional forms are placed on the street. Inspired by these methods, I began creating graffiti works in 2009. The most important thing for me was to do it without permission. I interpret graffiti as being placed outdoors without permission and then fading away or being removed with nature. I do not create graffiti with permission or in response to a request. However, this is not a legal act. Therefore, many graffiti writers work anonymously. Basically, when a work of art is published, the author's name is clearly stated along with the work, but this is not the case with graffiti. In some cases, only the work itself exists, and the author is unknown. I was interested in this way of being, and pursued a way of leaving works of art in such a way that the identity of the individual, such as gender or age, is unknown.

    Suburbs

In urban areas, there is a community of graffiti writers, and therefore a lot of graffiti was produced. They may respond by drawing graffiti near someone else's graffiti, or they may compete to draw it higher. On the other hand, in the suburbs where I live, graffiti is scarce and I did not find such a community. I sought to find a way for graffiti in the suburbs that I was familiar with. I began creating works that transformed deserted landscapes by placing highly saturated, ready-made products, but these works were almost never discovered by anyone and faded away. Therefore, he decided to document his works in photographs and disseminate them on the Internet. There are many websites that archive graffiti, and this is another way to appreciate graffiti.

    Outsider Art / Art Brut

I think that graffiti is peripheral to art. Originally, graffiti was the act of leaving one's name on the street, and there was little contact with art. However, in recent years, there is a view that graffiti is being recovered into the context of art. Of course, the quality of graffiti has increased, and those who collect it as an art form are being selective. Art is thus a system that selects, exploits, and expands its surroundings. It is also about giving value to these works and protecting them through the use of museums and other facilities. It may be the creator's desire for his work to be incorporated into art in such a way that it will remain. However, it is only a limited number of intellectuals and powerful people who decide this. Art Brut (raw art) is a genre proposed by the painter Jean Dubuffet. Art Brut is a genre proposed by the painter Jean Dubuffet, which can be simply defined as creative works created out of a desire for expression without any art education. Whereas most artists seek to present and value their work, Art Brut artists are obsessed with the act of creation itself. I have an art education, and I have been greatly influenced by their attitude and their work as I create my art. While I try to approach their expression, I face the dilemma that the act of creation is only an imitation.

    Labor

I was struck by the paintings of Art Brut artist Martin Ramirez, who worked in mining and railroad track construction and whose paintings are based on the subject of labor. After graduating from college, I worked in field positions as an inspector of props and logistics warehouses. My life changed from being centered on production at university to a life centered on labor, which affected my production. For example, I kept a diary of my drawings outside of working hours, and I used the techniques and motifs I learned through my labor to create artwork. However, he felt a sense of exploitation of labor for the purpose of production, and a sense of guilt at his own attempts to approach Art Brut. He has now abandoned the idea of intentionally working for the sake of production, and instead creates works based on concepts from his life with labor and from his own memories.
